Michael’s commitment to the community is reflected in the local organizations he supports, including his appointment as Past Chairman of the Board of Directors for The Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut and his service as Chairperson of the Retirement Benefit Advisory Committee for the Town of Brookfield. Michael currently serves on various church committees with the Congregational Church of Brookfield. He also volunteered for eleven years as a youth soccer coach and was proud to coach the U12 team to Brookfield’s first girls’ state championship.

Mr. Matson resides in Brookfield with his wife Laurie and children Kyle and Kate.  Laurie is busy volunteering as a Positive Discipline of CT conducting classes as a Facilitator and volunteers at a local nursery school. Kyle graduated from Connecticut College in May 2014 and is now working in New York City for Harrison & Star as an Account Executive.  Kate attends Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA where she is focused on courses in Creative Writing and Spanish and will be spending Spring 2017 studying in Madrid, Spain.

Over the last few months Michael has been spending time attending investment conferences and travelling to see Kate at her college campus and Kyle in NYC.  Visiting with Kyle gives the family an excuse to catch some Broadway shows and more importantly, a few NY Rangers games played in Madison Square Garden.

In the winter months you can find Michael at the Ridgefield, Canterbury and Danbury Ice rinks where he enjoys playing ice hockey. He also enjoys cycling, golf, exercising at the local YMCA and spending summer evenings on Lake Candlewood. His training paid off with a successful 14,400 foot summit of Mount Rainier in 2013, a 2015 summit of Mt. Adams and a trek across the floor of Grand Canyon (R2R2R) in December 2016.
